AI in Africa

Proof that world-class ideas can come from anywhere in the world!

South Africa is one of the most unequal countries in the world
in terms of education, access to opportunities and jobs.

In our AI in Africa  cycle, we partnered with 6 underserved communities in South Africa with the intention of exposing young minds to technology and showcase upcoming talent.

technology that allowed them to build technology driven tools and create projects that address real-life challenges. This cycle was our first step in helping to bridge the digital divide!

During a 3-day girls only bootcamp, participating girls embarked on an intensive and holistic curated programme consisting of:

  • Design Thinking

  • Working with AI Tools

What we achieved

We grow winners

Pitching & Presentation Skills

Our participants gain the life-long skill of public speaking and pitching. Standing before diverse panels of judges ranging from business leaders to entrepreneurs across different industries, the teams competed for the opportunity to compete for a grand prize at the end of the cycle.

Access to Top Mentors

Participants were offered support and coaching by senior business mentors from leading corporates.

Our environment encourages our mentors to share real-life insights from their organisations and feed those into the solution design process.

Providing our participants access to corporate professionals delivers a vital pathway to future opportunities for them.

UNDP - SDG Based Challenges & Solutions

Our challenges are based on the UNDP’s (Sustainable Development Goals) SGDs. Participants learn how to use design thinking and artificial intelligence to solve community problems.
