Mrs. Gugu Motlanthe

Trustee of the Kgalema Motlanthe Foundation.

Mrs. Motlanthe is the former first lady of the Republic of South Africa and a trustee of the Kgalema Motlanthe Foundation.

She is hard at work on a full-time basis, at the Kgalema Motlanthe Foundation (KMF) where her energies are focused on youth developmental projects, capacity building, the 4IR (Fourth Industrial Revolution)music, leadership, and fundraising.

She is a Social Democrat at heart who currently spearheads one of the fundamental programs of the foundation in dialogue among equals to promote social cohesion.

Kayembe is currently heading up the Digital Operations for Old Mutual. He is an experienced Mobile Product Manager with a love of tackling the impossible in order to find the right solutions for an ever increasingly complex user.

He leads the Mobile Customer Solutions function and defines the strategic direction and thought leadership role that this center of excellence plays. With a background in finance, made the transition to digital early in his career.

Lillian previously worked for 15-years in the IT Industry for IBM, and was based for 7-years at the IBM European Headquarters in France and Switzerland; she held many key positions during her tenure, which has enabled her to travel extensively around the world.

She has successfully led many large Sales teams locally and globally and has received many esteemed awards during this time.

Lillian is also a speaker, author, and mentor. She is very passionate about the empowerment and advancement of women, and she has a personal mandate to develop Africa’s next generation of leaders. She is a patron of the Dream Girls International Outreach and Mentoring Programme of South Africa.

Rakhee specialises in technology, data privacy, cybersecurity, electronic communications, outsourcing, information technology (“IT”), advertising regulations, social media and broadcasting. She has a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand and is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa.Her experience includes advising clients on systems integration projects, as well as other information and communications technology (“ICT”) projects.

Des Laubscher is a Past President and Fellow of the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers. (IFI) He founded and is a Past President of the African Institute for the Interior Design Professions. (IID). He has presented papers around the world on many design issues and is an acclaimed international speaker.
He is at present a Vice President of the International Council of Design, based in Montreal representing the interests of design organizations in 66 countries around the world.

Robin is a Johannesburg-based South African graphic and multimedia designer who began his training at the Vaal Triangle Technikon. He honed his skills through an honors degree programme at the Greenside Design Center, and sharpened his teeth through a series of design agencies, garnering awards in the process.

He has a passion for anything digital, which has, as a result, led him to break into the New/Multimedia design arena. He completed a master’s degree in digital interactive arts through the University of the Witwatersrand in 2011. He is particularly interested in interactive design and specializes in physical or human computing, which is an area of interactive design that explores that potential of human/computer interactions that do not require the use conventional digital inputs such as keyboards and a mouse.

He currently sits on the Executive Board for Cumulus, an international network of important design schools, where he is trying to get an African voice heard at the world design conversations table.

Abu Cassim is founder and CEO of Jozi Angels, an angel investor network based in Johannesburg. Jozi Angels is one of the most active investor networks on the African continent. They are a group of 24 angels that has made almost 40 early stage investments.Their focus is disruptive companies which ultimately creates a pipeline for VC investors.

Abu has seen entrepreneurship from many sides: he grew up in a family business that’s almost 80 years old and was featured in Entrepreneur.com. Abu also runs incubation and acceleration programmes. Prior to Jozi Angels, Abu ran and exited an online platform connecting startups and investors that had a footprint across 37 countries.

Ronelle Klinck’s passion to transform education started over 20 years ago. She has had opportunities to work with schools, tertiary institutions and in adult education. Ronelle’s Masters thesis on Augmented Reality in the classroom was a passion project, as she believes that radical technologies such as AI and machine learning are critical for digital transformation in education.

She started working at Microsoft South Africa in November 2016, as a Microsoft Learning Consultant. Among many other activities in her new role as Teacher Engagement Manager, she has trained teacher interns, supported academic institutions with unpacking the Education Transformation Framework, promoted the importance of industry certifications and supported teachers in the adoption of Minecraft in Education to enhance teaching and learning.
